Lady Dragonstone's DragonCon 2023 Experience

As a certified Dragon Con veteran having attended for four years, this was my first year attending with a media coverage badge. The Producer and I arrived early on Friday morning and the first thing we did was pick up our media badges and were given them by very kind volunteers as soon as the doors opened. After this we headed to the AmericasMart.

Since the line to get in on Friday is always long, and would only get longer on Saturday and Sunday, this time we went in would be the only time. The line wrapped around street corners, and would expand into parking garages and it took about an hour to get through, but once we were inside we canvased every floor of the building and got to see an incredible amount of innovation and creativity. I purchased a few tote bags and posters inside and once we were finished we headed over to the other hotel, and whilst waiting for the hall of heroes to open we were able to see a lot of incredible cosplay.

A true testament to the Summer of 2023 at Dragon Con was the army of Barbies, Kens, and even Allan! There were a few innovative twists on Barbie, including a Harley Quinn and Joker Barbie and Ken, and a Barbenheimer costume as well.  Each and every single one of them were Kenough!

After interviewing, and taking pictures of cosplayers we waited in line for the Hall of Heroes to open. Now, as an ardent fan of 2010s YA Dystopian, YA Fantasy, and the CWs Arrowverse, it's safe to say that I had a lot of fun in the Hall of Heroes this year. I was able to meet Arrows Willa Holland, Shadowhunters Katherine McNamara, The Flash's Carlos Valdes, and the couple that never was on screen, but is in real life; The 100's Bob Morley and Eliza Taylor. All of them were incredibly kind and the Dragon Con assistants working with them were incredibly sweet and understanding and fangriled with me.

Once we crossed the skybridge at 3:00pm we stumbled across the skybridge much to my excitement to see the House of the Dragon Cosplay meetup happening on the roof. We saw every version possible of Rhaenyra Alicent and Daemon. As well as a few Viserys' Aemonds and a Lucerys accompanied by his "grandparents" Corlys and Rhaenys and Ser Harwin Strong.

Saturday we rolled up nice and early to stake out a good spot to watch the parade as we always do, and after this we had the wonderful opportunity of being able to interview Cooper Andrews. Given the current SAG AFTRA Strike we were not able to ask any questions about any current or upcoming projects but we were able to hear about his journey into acting, his experiences on sets, and got a pretty bomb Zach Levi impression!

DragonCon 2023 as always was an incredible experience and I'm counting down the days until I'm back in Atlanta with my favorite nerds.
